Sangmarmar
The piece
Sangmarmar is marble. On the instruments today the hours and degrees are read off scales of white marble set into the stone. This rug is a field of ivory veined in dove grey and threads of gold silk, with one long graduated scale running straight across it, the veins passing through as if the stone came first. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
