The piece
Interlacing bands do the drawing here. Broad, flecked ribbons in bronze cross and recross down the centre of a sand ground, forming a chain of ogival cartouches, each holding a gold rosette or palmette. Smaller flowers and curling leaves fill the space outside the lattice. An ivory border carries a scrolling vine with ochre palmettes, framed by narrow gold guards. The palette never leaves gold, sand and brown. A good choice for a dining room or a formal hall with carved wood. Hand-knotted in Jaipur from hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, 6 to 14 knots per inch. Made to order in any size and colourway.
