Shila
The piece
Shila means stone. Walk round the observatory and its instruments break into blocks, ramps and flights of steps, every face catching the sun at a different angle. Shila stacks those blocks into one rising outline, each face in its own tone of Jaipur sandstone and carved with lines that turn as the light moves. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
