Firozi Bel
The piece
Firozi, the soft turquoise of old Indian enamel, washes the field in a pale aqua with gentle abrash. A bel, the climbing vine of Mughal textiles, branches across it in thin brown stems, carrying fan palmettes, rosettes and feathered leaves curled like plumes, all mirrored on a central axis. The open spacing lets the colour breathe. An ivory border alternates rosettes with curling leaf pairs, between camel and brown guards. The cool field and warm frame suit a garden room, a bright living room with white plaster, or a bedroom in pale blue and cream. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool and mulberry silk, made to order in any size and colourway.
