Sutun
The piece
Sutun is the Urdu and Persian word for a column. Builders of the time learned the classical orders from engraved plates. Sutun is one of those plates grown to the size of a room: a single Corinthian capital in black line on ivory, its volutes and acanthus too big for the rug that holds them. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
