Akashganga

The piece

In Hindi the Milky Way is Akashganga, the Ganga of the sky. On a dark, clear night it stretches across the whole sky. Here it flows over deep teal wool as a river of hundreds of small stars, lozenges and dots in ivory, gold, sky blue and sea green, crowded in the middle and thinning at the edges. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
