Prahar
The piece
The old Indian day and night were divided into eight prahars, each roughly three hours, stretching and shrinking with the seasons. Prahar shows one sun at three of them, high in madder red, lower in rose and setting in sand, through a patchwork of terracotta, rust and chocolate wool spun by hand. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
