Porcelain Palmette
The piece
Porcelain white makes the field almost bright. On it, palmettes and leafy sprays in olive, gold, sage and rust sit on fine tendrils, mirrored around a small lobed medallion at the centre. Spacing is generous, so the white carries as much of the design as the motifs do. A gold guard leads to a wide black border of palmettes and vines in rust, gold and green. The black edge gives the pale field a sharp frame. It suits a dining room with dark chairs or a living room with black metal and white walls. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, made to order in any size.
