Sable Bouquet

The piece

Near-black navy forms the ground, and the design on it is built in four mirrored quarters: large palmettes, cloud-band scrolls in teal and sage, and blossoms in gold, rose and olive, gathered around a central cluster. The density is high, but the teal scrolls give the eye a path through it. A rust guard frames the field, then comes a wide ivory border of palmettes and leaves. The dark centre and pale frame draw a strong outline on a light floor. Made for a formal dining room or a library with dark shelving. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, made to order in any size and colourway.
