Scarlet Rosette

The piece

Scarlet frames a crowded, colourful field. Inside the red border, a wheat-coloured ground is covered with rosettes, palmettes and leafy sprays on diagonal stems, in slate blue, olive, rust, red and gold, with small red diamond panels set into the lattice. The repeat is dense and allover, with no central medallion, so the eye moves freely across it. The scarlet border is filled with small flowers on a running vine. It brings colour and pattern to a dining room with plain walls or a family living room. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, 6 to 14 knots per inch, made to order in any size.
