Topaz Roundel
The piece
Circular, with a midnight navy centre and a wide topaz gold border. The field holds an open floral layout: an eight-pointed gold rosette at the middle, palmettes on the four axes, and small blossoms and leaves in gold, rust and sage between them. A thin rust guard divides the field from the border, which carries palmettes and vines in brown and rust on the honey ground. Dark centre and warm frame give a clear outline from any side. It suits a round breakfast table, a reading corner or the middle of an entrance hall. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, made to order in any size and colourway.
