Jaali
The piece
A jaali is a screen of carved stone, cut through in a lattice so that air and light pass and the eye does not. Jaali enlarges one such lattice until only a few stars fit and carves it into the pile: raised ivory bands, recessed stone grey between them, and a six sided outline that crops the pattern the way a window frame would. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
