Kota

The piece

Kota stone is a fine limestone from around Kota in Rajasthan, laid in honed slabs of blue grey and green grey in houses all over India. Kota knots such a floor: big slabs of uneven size, the mottling and veins of the stone carried into the wool, joints of lime white, and one or two slabs set a little off the line, as a mason would. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
