Neel

The piece

Below Mehrangarh Fort, the old Brahmpuri quarter of Jodhpur is painted blue, house after house, and why is still argued over. From above, the roofs become a patchwork of every blue there is. Neel, the word for indigo and for blue, packs them together, with a few ochre and white roofs in between. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
