Aegean Patina
The piece
Aegean Patina is built from large overlapping blocks of royal blue and silver grey, laid over a classical design of plumed palmettes, feathered leaves and small rosettes drawn in cream. Where a blue block meets the grey, the pattern carries straight through, so it reads like an old textile patched with pieces of another. There is no border. It suits a modern living room, a study or a bedroom with white walls and pale oak. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, 10 to 14 knots per inch, made to order from 4 × 6 ft up to 16 ft wide.
