Forest Nocturne
The piece
Forest Nocturne is split into two zones. The lower part is a chocolate brown field with copper scrolling arabesques, feathered leaves and small blossoms in teal and navy, mirrored around a central rosette. Above, the ground breaks along a stepped edge into moss green and deep teal, with the same copper vines running through it as if the pattern carried on under a new colour. It suits a study, a library or a living room with green walls and walnut. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, 10 to 14 knots per inch, made to order from 4 × 6 ft up to 16 ft wide.
