The piece
Cream damask medallions stand in staggered rows over a ground that drifts between slate blue and moss olive green. Toward one end the medallions thin and break apart, and the ground runs down in vertical streaks like dripped paint, finishing in a dark brown band. The mottled ground and fading pattern give Ethereal Azure the look of an old painted wall. It suits a living room or a dining room with plaster walls, aged wood and linen. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, 10 to 14 knots per inch, made to order from 4 × 6 ft up to 16 ft wide.
