Parat
The piece
Parat means layer. In the yellow sandstone of Jaisalmer you can read the land's long history in bands, some thick, some thin, bending as they go. Parat carves each band at its own height, honey, saffron, rust and cream, with fine seams of gold silk between them. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
