Sarson

The piece

Rajasthan grows more mustard than anywhere else in India, and in winter, when the crop flowers, the fields turn yellow. From the air the plots fit together like a quilt, yellow beside the green of young wheat and the brown of land at rest. Sarson knots that quilt in hand-dyed wool, the yellow fields carved a little higher than the rest. Shown as a rendering. Woven to order in Jaipur.
