Garnet Palmette
The piece
Garnet red, deep and slightly brown, carries an open design of palmettes, curling arabesque leaves and small blossoms in gold, olive and cream, mirrored around a central rosette. Diagonal sprays reach toward the corners, giving the field a gentle X-shaped structure. The ivory border repeats palmettes and leaves on a light ground, with a fine dark guard on each side. Red centre, pale frame: it reads warm and formal at once. It suits a dining room with dark wood or a drawing room with cream walls. Hand-knotted in Jaipur in hand-spun New Zealand wool with mulberry silk accents on a cotton warp, 6 to 14 knots per inch, made to order in any size and colourway.
